Liege Waffles

Last weekend before the school begin next week. Weather was bad since yesterday, very gloomy and wet that we'd better stayed indoor.

This is when I decided to try my new toy. Other Half bought for me a new toy, few days ago, a cast iron waffle maker. Woohoo! Thanks to Marion (hey, you're getting famous here) for making Liege's waffles few weeks ago for her birthday. Told Other Half about it and he said that he will get it for me..

After searching through Pinterest (again), I found the recipe. Few sites carry the same recipe, so I might as well I give a try.

Liege Waffles

Ingredients:
2/3 cup milk
1 package active dry yeast
6 tbsp butter, room temp and cut to pieces
1/4 cup sugar
1 large
Pinch of salt
3 cups flour
1/2 cup pearl sugar

Warm milk to 40-45*C, sprinkle the yeast over the warm milk and let it sit until it begins to get foamy.

In a bowl of stand mixer, add butter, sugar, salt, flour and egg. Fit the bowl  with the dough hook. Mix the ingredients on the lowest setting, pour in the milk and yeast mixture. Increase the speed and knead the dough about 5 minutes or until it forms a soft sticky dough (between cake and bread dough).

Place the dough in a clean bowl, cover it loosely and allow to rise double in size (1 - 1.5 hr)

Place the dough back into the mixer, fit with the dough hook, stir in the pearl sugar into the risen batter, let it rest again for at least 15 minutes.

Heat the waffle iron, take 2 tbsp of batter for each, cook the waffle until they are golden and crisp. Transfer the waffles to plates, serve warm
